Sasha Dovzhyk

Head of INDEX, writer and editor. She holds a PhD in English and Comparative Literature from Birkbeck, University of London, where she also taught English literature, as well as Ukrainian literature at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at University College London.

She worked as special projects curator at the Ukrainian Institute London and remains the editor-in-chief of the London Ukrainian Review, published by the UIL in partnership with INDEX.

Since 2022, she has written on Russia’s war against Ukraine for the New York Times, Los Angeles Review of Books, The Guardian, CNN, New Lines, and other outlets. After nine years in London, Sasha returned to Ukraine in 2023 to lead INDEX.
